2021 Karting Regulations Now Available, and Other GDS Karting Updates

Friday, April 16, 2021:Sport Development Group (GDS) have published the 2021 Canadian Karting Regulations, which are now available for all karting series, clubs, and others to utilize.

These regulations were created by a karting task force assembled by the GDS executive team, coordinated by GDS ASN Canada National Karting Steward Norman Jennings. Stakeholders in the karting community from across Canada provided comments and feedback that has been incorporated into this year’s regulations.

A summary of changes from the previous karting regulation books has also been published so exact amendments and changes to the rules can be easily accessed.

GDS has also posted a karting bulletin prohibiting the use of Dynamic Kart Steering (DKS) kits. In the interest of keeping as many costs down as possible for competitors these systems will not be allowed as per this recent bulletin.

More information will be coming soon about national series and events for karting in Canada in 2021. Please keep up to date with the “Affiliations” tab on the GDS website. A full list of nationally sanctioned events and members are available on the “Affiliated List” page found there. As well, any series or event across Canada has the ability to apply for national status. Nationally sanctioned events are necessary in order to satisfy the FIA mandate for drivers, who must compete at national-level events before receiving an international karting licence to compete outside of Canada.
